Tricare and gastric bypass question?

please no rude people about dieting and exercising.i have tricare and i want to get gastric bypass.i've went to a seminar and and have an appt with the surgon next month.tomorrow i go to my pcm (which is a civilian dr) to try to get a referal.when the surgon's office called today i was told tricare might not cover it because i have no other medical issues(high cholesterol,diabets).i told her i know someone who just had it a few months ago with no issues just a bmi over 40 and she told me tricare is changing thisng. so i guess my question is has anyone recently gotten approved with no other issues? and should i change my pcm back to military?i just got civilian because it was closer to my house.thank you for helping
